The essential website images to attract better wedding clients

What I LOVE about working on websites for wedding businesses is that it’s about so much more than just creating a digital business card… We’re creating a window into the world you create for your clients - and your images play a huge role in that!

The photos will obviously showcase examples of what you offer, but they can also craft a visual narrative that woos nearlyweds’ socks off so they’re DYING to be a part of that world.

I've noticed many wedding pros tend to either lack enough images that showcase your skills, or they ONLY focus on images of their work, and nothing to supplement it… So I wanna share some ideas for what other images you should be using on your website to tell the whole story.

If you find yourself receiving a lot of inquiries from couples who aren't the right fit for your business, your website images may be the culprit. By curating images that send the right message, you can easily attract and repel to get better-aligned leads!

Your website photos communicate not just what you do, but also how it feels to work with you. They can convey your taste level, your unique style, and your professionalism - so it’s important to get it right.

Let’s look at the various types of photos that should be displayed on your website, complete with examples and practical tips to help you captivate your ideal clients. Get ready to charm your future clients and take your wedding biz to the next level ;)

Photos of your specific services

Obviously you want to show off what you offer! Your “portfolio” images are your best work examples so that clients can get an idea of exactly what to expect from hiring you.

These photos are solid proof that you've got the chops to deliver the goods. You can demonstrate your range (as long as it’s consistent and not confusing) or highlight what you’re known for.

This may include:

  • Cakes, florals, stationary, food, or the actual deliverable you create for people

  • If you’re a planner, this might be shots that showcase your attention to detail or showing your clients looking stress-free

  • If you’re a photographer, this should be the types of images your ideal clients care about most

Above are a few photos a florist business might choose to showcase of their floral work. We’ll use this same business as an example as we go along!

Pro tips:

  • If you haven’t had the chance to really flex your creativity on a real wedding yet, a styled shoot could be a game-changer!

  • The best way to stand out in a sea of vendors offering the same services? Find your specialty and highlight it throughout your photos. Whether it's a certain cuisine or an editing style, make it your signature and showcase it proudly.

Other wedding-day photos not specific to your services

Okay, so we've covered your main gig, but don’t forget about those extra shots that really set the mood and bring your brand to life!

These snapshots may not directly feature your products or services, but when consistent with your brand, they can paint a vivid picture of how your work plays a role in the larger wedding day.

This may include:

  • Couples you’ve worked with

  • Venues you’ve worked with, interiors, exteriors, nature

  • Florals, tablescapes, invitation suites

  • Attire, accessories, detail shots

Here are a few photos our fictional florist might choose from wedding days they’ve worked to complement their portfolio; such as ribbon, trees, and architecture.

Pro tips:

  • Get creative with how you use these — pair 'em with testimonials, layer 'em with your work pics, or use 'em as background images.

  • If you're short on real-wedding pics, don't sweat it! A few well-chosen stock photos can do the trick (just don't go overboard). Stay tuned for our upcoming post on the best stock photo sites for wedding pros — subscribe to be notified!

Brand photos

Yup, it's time to step in front of the camera and let your clients see the real you! These pics are all about showing the people behind the brand—the ones who'll be making their wedding dreams a reality.

When you’re not hiding behind your work, it communicates confidence and helps build a connection with your audience.

This may include:

  • Headshots of the owner and/or the team: Looking directly at the camera with a smile!

  • Lifestyle/office/personal shots: Give 'em a glimpse into your everyday world.

  • Behind-the-scenes/on-location shots: People love seeing you in your element!

The florist business from our example might use photos of them arranging flowers, photos of the studio, or other elements that could tell the story of their brand.

Pro tips:

  • Keep it on-brand, folks! These photos should match the vibe, style, and quality of your work as much as possible.

  • If you must use cell phone pics, save 'em for the About page and jazz 'em up a bit. A cute collage or black-and-white filter can add a personal touch without sacrificing professionalism.
