Portfolio: Custom Squarespace website for queer wedding planner in Northwest Arkansas

Why Stardust Weddings needed a website that felt as bold as the brand

Jasmine Yepez is a Northwest Arkansas wedding planner who's anything but traditional. As a queer-owned business, Stardust Weddings & Events celebrates bold love, big color, and weddings that break the mold.

She already had bold branding, a clear mission, and an Instagram full of color and life. But her DIY Squarespace website was lagging behind. It wasn’t bringing in the clients she wanted - or doing conveying her vibrant, justice-driven approach.

Jasmine’s dream was a website that:

  • Felt custom, colorful, and unapologetically fun

  • Attracted higher-budget clients while staying grounded and approachable

  • Showcased her values: inclusivity, creativity, and community

  • Avoided the cookie-cutter wedding industry aesthetic

I said, say less.

Maybe your own website feels “fine” but not freakin’ awesome. Or maybe you’re craving a way to book better-fit clients without changing who you are. If that’s you, Jasmine’s project might just be the nudge you’ve been looking for.

Branding by Elena David Studio:

Building a vibrant, inclusive website that stands out (without the chaos)

I took Jasmine’s direction seriously: “I want something fun, colorful, and funky - but it can’t feel hectic.” That gave me a design challenge I absolutely loved.

See, I’m not here to give everyone the same high-gloss website. I design around what makes you different. That’s how we build sites that still feel true 3-5 years later - and how we attract clients who feel like, “YES, this is my person.”

The goal for this one was to create something loud but never overwhelming, with just enough edge to honor her Halloween-loving heart (without going full haunted house). Jasmine already had a killer brand identity created by Elena David Studio (see above), so I knew we had a strong foundation. My job was to bring it to life online without letting it get chaotic.

Some of the standout features:

  • Color, movement, motifs: We skipped standard white backgrounds and leaned all the way into bold colors, retro shapes, mixed typography, and custom animations that added personality without overwhelming.

  • Rebellious but refined: A little spooky, a little retro, and a lot unique - just like Jasmine. I used off-black and punchy tones to create a vibe that was high-energy but still user-friendly and intuitive.

  • Subtle symbols, strong statement: We leaned into rainbow nods, ziggy lightning bolts, and funky tile patterns to keep it cool, not cliché.

  • Warm, welcoming, and unmistakably queer: This is a planner who gets it - and now, her website makes that obvious from the jump. No guessing needed.

  • High-quality, high-energy images that strike a balance between party vibes, diversity, and a more elevated feel. This is what gives it the “premium but not stuffy” atmosphere Jasmine was going for.

We also made sure:

  • The navigation is super clear and mobile-friendly

  • The portfolio showcases diverse, joyful celebrations

  • The design keeps eyes moving without losing focus

  • The copy and flow reflect Jasmine’s kind-but-edgy voice

The final design: unapologetic, approachable, and built to last

And here’s something extra cool: we built the entire project 100% asynchronously. No calls! Just written communication, Loom videos, and well-structured feedback rounds. If you’re someone who dreads Zoom meetings or prefers to process things in writing, this is proof that you can still get a high-touch, custom experience without ever hopping on a live call.

The final site is a space that mirrors Jasmine’s joyful spirit, her fight for equality, and her talent for throwing unforgettable celebrations that don’t follow a template. Plus, it finally feels polished enough to speak to those higher-budget clients, without losing her down-to-earth charm.

Here’s what we love about the final result:

  • It feels like an expertly-orchestrated, high-energy party

  • It’s proudly queer and deeply Northwest Arkansas

  • It reflects her creative edge and professionalism

  • It’s built to last beyond just this year’s trends

Jasmine’s final website now feels like an extension of her work: bold, personal, and grounded in community. It makes it obvious who she’s for — and just as importantly, who she’s not. It’s built to grow with her, and stand out in a saturated wedding market for years to come.

This is what happens when we create from the inside out; when your personality, process, and priorities lead the design :)

And I’m obsessed. Want a closer look?

The revamped site:

Here’s what she had to say about working together!

“Emily completely went above and beyond, and the whole process was super smooth.”

“I was looking for someone who had a good eye for design, wasn’t afraid of color, and specialized in the wedding industry. She was efficient, easy to work with, and I’m obsessed with my new website. I’ve seen increased traffic and I anticipate booking more clients come engagement season! If you’re on the fence, I know it seems like a big investment but the quality of website you’ll get on the other side is totally worth it.”
