Meet the Celebrants Behind Flower City Ceremonies

Let me introduce you to Keri Klein, the heart and soul of Flower City Ceremonies. Her business is all about crafting ceremonies that reflect real people - not stiff scripts or cookie-cutter traditions :)

Keri works with couples across Rochester, Buffalo and The Finger Lakes, and her team celebrates love in all its forms: weddings, vow renewals, trans-naming ceremonies, celebrations of life, and more. Inclusivity isn’t just a tagline for Flower City Ceremonies; it’s the backbone of everything they do!

When Keri described wanting her brand to feel like “the Taylor Swift of wedding officiants,” I took that to mean unapologetically herself, connecting with people through stories, and always bringing a little spark of fun to the stage. And that’s exactly the kind of vibe her website needed to capture.

When Great Branding Doesn’t Quite Come Together

The branding foundation was already strong: bright colors, playful patterns, and fonts that paired beautifully with her logo. It was bold, joyful, and way more fun than the sea of beige you usually see in the wedding industry. But the way everything was applied across her site wasn’t fully landing…

Some colors were competing with each other, which made certain sections hard to read. Fonts were used in so many different sizes and weights that they started to feel messy instead of intentional. The oversized text stretched pages into long scrolls, while big empty gaps of space made things look unfinished. And the fun patterns were confined to the homepage, leaving the rest of the site feeling a little underdressed.

All of this meant her personality and professionalism weren’t shining through the way they could.

Take a look at how we updated this site in just a matter of hours using my Design Day service!

A Design Day Transformation

This is where a Design Day is such a great fit. We didn’t need to rebuild the site from scratch - just polish and refine what was already there so everything worked together seamlessly :)

Here’s what we focused on:

  • Colors that work together: We kept her palette bold and celebratory, but adjusted the combos so text was easier to read. We also removed black, which felt out of place in such a bright and joyful brand.

  • Consistency across pages: The wavy section borders Keri loved now appear throughout the site, paired with dashed outlines that add playfulness and tie everything together.

  • Typography cleanup: Her fonts were strong choices, but we streamlined the variations so they feel cohesive instead of chaotic.

  • Readability + flow: By resizing text, breaking up long paragraphs, and fixing awkward spacing, the pages became shorter, clearer, and more comfortable to skim.

  • Mobile refinements: We made sure everything looked just as polished on phones as it did on desktop.

  • SEO bonus: With a little time left, we also cleaned up heading tags so Google knows exactly what each page is about.

The Final Result

Flower City Ceremonies’ website now strikes the perfect balance of bold and polished. It’s colorful and welcoming, yet refined and professional - the exact impression Keri wanted for her couples. In her words, the site went “from okay to amazing,” and it now speaks directly to the fun, unconventional couples she loves working with. Most importantly, it’s a website she finally feels proud to share!

This was such a satisfying project because it’s proof that sometimes you don’t need to start over. You may just need a dedicated day or two of refinements to make your existing site feel like the version of your business you’ve envisioned.
